7 Ways to Fall Back in Love with Your Partner and Rekindle the Fire

You can fall back in love with your partner!

You just have to be patient, be honest with your partner, and have faith that the spark can reignite. As much as we don’t like it, being in love and passion can fade over time. When you’re first with someone, you’re excited to know more about them, discover what they like and what they hate, feel all those gorgeous butterflies, and have amazing experiences together, but that won’t last forever.

Things can start to feel like they’re constantly repeating, especially if you live together. I had the same problem with my husband: we had a rough period when we were fighting weekly and the passion faded, but we pushed through, and after many trials and errors, we took our time to reconnect with one another and feel like a team again.

I’ve gathered all my best tips on how to fall back in love with your partner, and I want to share all these hacks with you. I’ve also talked to dating and relationship experts about all the ways to re-spark your relationship, and we’re all confident that as long as you both want to make things work, it can happen.

I don’t want to keep this intro any longer, so if you want to find out all the ways to fall back in love with your partner and feel that passion and happiness again, keep reading!

1. Accept it

Before you and your significant other start this reconnection process, you both have to accept the fact that passion isn’t going to stay there forever. The excitement that you see in movies or read about in books is quite different from what couples experience in reality.

As you and your partner mature together and your relationship grows stronger, it becomes more about soul connection and intimacy than physical desire. If your butterflies aren’t there anymore, it doesn’t mean that you stopped loving one another. A long-term relationship can take you by surprise because it comes with many ups and downs, and all of them are normal.

But, as I’ve already mentioned, you can fall back in love with your partner. You have to take it back from the beginning. And here’s how you do it.

2. Take it back to the beginning

Do you remember how you felt when you first started to have feelings for your partner? You probably didn’t even think about doing ordinary things, like eating or paying attention to your to-do list, and that’s because you were excited to see that special someone, get to know more about them, and build a connection. This period is all about desire, infatuation, and fantasies, but you can have it back.

If you feel like your relationship’s in a rut, don’t focus on the negative, like “all the couples around me say they’ve never lost their passion, and I’m the only one who’s not in love with my partner anymore.” I felt this way, and it made my husband and I fight even more because I was comparing our situation to what I thought was normal for couples.

I know it’s easier said than done but think of it as an opportunity to bring back the spark you missed. Think about all the things that made you excited about your SO in the first place. Plan a trip together and go down memory lane: visit the place you met, got engaged or married, or the place you said “I love you” for the first time. This is only one of the first steps on how to fall back in love with your partner, and it works because it gives you a sensory kick in the b**t to reignite an absent spark.

3. Get your heart racing together

Did you know you can fall back in love with your partner by doing crazy things together? It might sound weird, but according to experts, doing or watching things that make your body release adrenaline and endorphins can bring you closer to one another.

For instance, you can plan a date in an amusement park and ride a roller coaster together, visit a haunted house that makes you scream from the top of your lungs, or go to the movies to watch a horror film. You’re more likely to hold hands, have a good laugh, and make new memories together, and as dating experts say, an adrenaline rush can increase attraction.

4. Talk and be honest about your thoughts and intentions

All fun things aside, if you want to fall back in love with your partner, you have to analyze your feelings and accept that you want to make things work. Have an honest conversation where you tell each other what you don’t like and where you think it went south, and then come up with solutions to make things better.

Even if you don’t like what your SO says, actively listen to their words and ask questions, but be calm and try to understand. The same thing goes with them. If you both know you want the same things, it will be easier and more enjoyable to reignite the spark.

5. Try a bedroom challenge

Amping up your bedroom life can be a good idea if you want to fall back in love with your partner. Some dating experts recommend a 30-day love challenge, but if that’s too much, you can customize it to fit your needs.

Knowing that you have time for your physical desires can be fun and exciting, and it can motivate you to try new things and to be honest with one another regarding what you want and expect. It’s a fabulous way to shake things up, release tension, and get those happy hormones and glowing effects. And if you somehow fight and the last thing you want to see is your SO, I recommend you try makeup lovemaking. It releases all the tension and negative feelings; it makes you braver since you’re angry; and it can help you forget about the fight.

If you do all these things and feel like nothing works, you can ask a therapist for help. Even if it doesn’t seem like a big deal at first, the lack of a bedroom connection can cause several problems in the long run, and it deserves attention.

6. Take lovemaking off the table

On the other hand, if you want to fall back in love with your partner but feel like spending time in the bedroom puts a lot of pressure on you, take it off the table—at least for a short period.

According to experts, some people find it easier to rekindle connection and romance since they don’t have the pressure of a great performance. Kiss, cuddle, hold hands and go to second base, but that’s it. Not going further can bring back the desire, relax the situation, and build anticipation, and it will make you more excited about bedroom time and one another in general.

7. Take care of yourself

While some people might raise an eyebrow when they hear that one of the easiest ways to fall back in love with your partner is to pay attention to your needs and how you can fulfill them, I can’t stress this enough.

When you’re in a long-term relationship, it can be hard to remember where the relationship ends and where you begin. The more you lose yourself, the harder the relationship will be. Before you fall back in love with your partner, you have to refind your joy and passion within yourself.

Pick up your old hobby or find a new one, start volunteering or doing charity work, start working out and taking care of your diet, and do something that you like and fills your cup. This can help you become more present within yourself, find joy in being you, become more confident, and be happy by yourself. When you reach that level of happiness, you can set the tone for how others treat and love you, and it can help you fall back in love with your partner.
