You expect to be respected.
Another one of the boundaries you must have is expecting respect from the other party. I mean, you deserve all the kindness and loving communication in the world!
If you feel that your partner decides to speak out of unjustified anger or has a disrespectful tone, you have every right to remove yourself from that scenario.
They must know that if they want to have a serious conversation with you, it must come from a place of respect and love. Otherwise, they should not have access to you.
You don’t let the other person dictate your own feelings.
When you’re part of a couple, you might notice that your opinions and emotions are a bit blurred. Try to learn how you are feeling when an argument comes up, and also to decipher your partner’s feelings.
If they speak for you, kindly correct them and ask them not to dictate your emotions to you. You can do it for yourself. In fact, each one of you should be responsible for their own behavior.
It’s very important to be attuned to ourselves when we are feeling distressed or confused, because otherwise, it might take a toll on the relationship, and that’s definitely not something you might wish for.
