8. Leave Your Baggage Behind

Everyone has their own baggage, especially those of us in our senior years. We all have ex-boyfriends or ex-husbands (or maybe both), maybe some children, and plenty of life experiences that shape our views.

Bringing up your past relationships and your partners too much in the discussion can make you look resentful. Even worse, speaking badly about your exes can backfire, making you seem like the real issue here.

It’s OK to say you were unhappy and that your previous partner hurt you, but a senior man would never want to go on a second date with a woman who talks a lot about her past romantic relationships.

This doesn’t mean that you should keep your past a mystery. Try to find the balance between oversharing and sharing just the right amount of information.
