When you’re in the same room, the space between you and that person can tell you many things about the relationship between you two. There’s even a fancy word for this, it’s known as “proxemics”. Here are some of the most important signs that someone might be interested in you:

• If this person becomes really intimate with you, by staying very close to you. The intimate zone starts at 18 inches away from your face.
• If this person leans toward you or moves far away from you. Leaning is a nonverbal cue that says a lot about the current status of partnership, agreeableness, and even camaraderie.
• If this person becomes creative in finding new ways to touch your arm or hand. Touch is known to be one of the most relevant ways to signal connection.
