6. Philautia (Self Love)

By now, we have seen that there are more types of love, and all of them involve others. But what about us? What about self-love? Isn’t it as important as the love we have for other people?

Obviously, it is essential to love and care for ourselves, and this is what Philautia teaches us. This is a healthy form of love in which you are able to give someone the compassion and affection that you need.

After all, you are the only one who is responsible for your own well-being. The love of your life is there for you, and you share incredible moments together, but in the end, your happiness should not depend on others.

There is also this old Buddhist philosophy that says that only after you are able to love yourself and be comfortable in your own skin will you be able to give love to others.

Now that you know about all the types of love, which one is yours? Tell us what you think in the comments section!
