That you like having them around

Lots of people assume that just because they’re dating someone, their partner instantly knows that they automatically enjoy their company. I know this is often the case, but let’s be honest, there are some things that your partner should hear every day, such as “I love spending time with you” or reminding them how much you love having them around.

Try it out and see how your partner responds. It might be better than you thought.

You want to know more about their day.

Another important cornerstone of ideal communication is catching up daily. I know these things don’t have to happen necessarily daily, but showing that you genuinely care about what’s going on in your loved one’s life is a nice thing to do.

And if you want to make it work, make sure you remind yourself to say some things that your partner should hear every day, such as “How was your day?” and then really listen to them.
