It was a death that made them be apart. So you can’t expect their emotions to simply shut off overnight. You might be enthusiastic. But give them some time to cope.

When dating a widower, don’t forget that who you’re dating has the right to keep pictures or any other memories of their late partner. These things can be special to them. You should never mock their beliefs or ideas or coax them into discarding their memories.
Also, avoid interpreting these belongings as a menace to your relationship. If you have to share a space or move in together, you can always talk about it without hurting your partner’s feelings.
