1. Don’t idealize your partner

People with narcissistic personality disorder may be confident, engaging, and charming at times. As a result, they can draw people in with their energy and attitude.

If you deal with a narcissistic partner, it’s important not to idealize them but rather see them as they really are. This includes acknowledging their not-so-charming moments too.

This means you may want to look at how they talk about previous relationships, how they behave with you when they are upset, and how they treat other people.

In other words, if you deal with a narcissistic partner, it’s important to have realistic expectations. This also involves not justifying their behavior when they hurt you.
