2. Listen for the Cock
This one is a bit bizarre, but there it is. According to an old German superstition, women who haven’t engaged in intimate actions and are willing to know if they will be married next year should go to the chicken coop on Christmas Eve and knock on the door. If the woman hears a rooster crow, she will marry next year. However, if she hears a hen, she won’t.
Call us cynical, but our guess is that most people would rather not leave the fate of their romantic lives up to poultry. Not to mention that, even if you choose to believe this superstition, you’d need to have a chicken coop or resort to someone who has one, which seems pretty unrealistic for most of us.
