Finances damage us

For the majority of people—not just couples—this is a perennial problem and one of the reasons why marriages don’t last anymore. A home didn’t used to cost more than $300,000, and an education would cost up to $200,000. To pay for your children’s fees, electricity, mortgage, and other costs, you now need to obtain a job. The main problem is that your odds of finding a job that lets you pay for everything and gives you extra money to save for that vacation aren’t great. Particularly not in your mid-20s.

There is a strain between us because of this. It prevents us from living a full life. Paying debts keeps us too busy to enjoy our youth. You have to pay the mortgage, so forget about going to dinner. And then how are we supposed to enjoy our youth and our relationship?

Living is a necessary component of life. Yet another significant component of our relationships is lost because we lack the money to accomplish it. We are confined within and compelled to see how everyone else lives.
