2. Discuss your problems
When a divorce feels like it’s getting closer and closer to you, it will take some time and effort to push it away. I don’t know about you, but although I’ve been with my husband for many, many years, sometimes I find it hard to tell him exactly how I’m feeling and what the things he does that make me mad are. It shouldn’t be a big deal, but it’s just how it is, and I’m always making an effort to speak my mind.
And that’s the exact piece of advice I’m giving you. Don’t feel ashamed or weird about telling your spouse what the problems are in your relationship, because that’s an important step in avoiding divorce.
Sit together, maybe over a cozy meal, and talk about everything that’s been bothering you for a while. Try to overcome any anger, hostility, or sadness and find a way to be real and open with one another. If that’s not working, you could try couple counseling in order to escape a potential divorce.
